Barad-Dur - I Descend Cassette EP Wulfrune Worxxx 2011
What can I say, first of all Nathan Watson is an amazing guy and musician.
Owner of the wonderful DIY label Frozen Tendril Records. Barad-Dur is one
of his many projects. This EP is a wonderful mix of raw (almost old school 90's) black metal,
Doom metal and great ambient. The E.P starts of with the scratches of possibly vinyl and distant piano, than goes right into a clean yet depressive guitar driven melodies. (Also I need to add nathan's vocal style is very powerful, and stands out in the music with out over powering) after tha clean guitar the first track (The Self-Destructive Mindset) explodes into a brief moment of heavy slow tempo. It than resembles the early cold 90's black metal, with super catchy riffs and powerful blast beats. I won't give away the whole album, which you need to own if you don't already have it. The last ambient track is a real treat! this is a total journey album from cold black metal to crushing bottom heavy doom into relaxing yet dark ambient.
